Anti-Aging at its Best: Custom BOTOX Injections

BOTOX is an FDA-approved treatment for the temporary reduction of facial wrinkles. The active ingredient in BOTOX works its anti-aging magic by blocking nerve signals to specific muscle strands, limiting motion. As the muscles beneath the skin relax, the skin smoothens, leaving you looking well-rested, rejuvenated, with facial creases and lines fading in the weeks and months ahead.

Dysport

To smooth deeper wrinkles and creases on the forehead, Dysport may be the ideal injectable. The formula is thinner than BOTOX, and the smoothing effect can occur faster than with BOTOX, within two to three days. Dysport has the same active ingredient as BOTOX, but the thinner formula could be more effective for treating deeper forehead creases, due to the ability of the product to diffuse more evenly through larger areas of tissue.

Xeomin

Xeomin is the “purest” neurotoxin, as the formula does not have the added proteins found in BOTOX. If you have used BOTOX but are not achieving the same results, it could be that your body has developed antibody resistance to the additives in BOTOX. Switching to Xeomin may be the right choice. Xeomin has the same active ingredient, but is free from additives, and the results appear faster than BOTOX in most cases.

What neurotoxin is right for me?

Dr. Sulyman-Scott can advise you about whether BOTOX, Dysport, or Xeomin she advises for you. Her approach is to choose the product that will produce the best result for the specific facial area you want to treat. Every person is unique, and achieving a lovely, youthful look requires advanced injection skills, a breadth of understanding of the facial muscular structure, and a full understanding of the differences between BOTOX, Dysport, and Xeomin, and you can trust that your face will be in the hands of an accomplished plastic surgeon when under the care of Dr. Sulyman-Scott.

BOTOX and You: Is it time?

BOTOX injections are an excellent treatment for several facial issues, including:

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead creases
  • Crow’s feet
  • A heavy, overhanging brow
  • Bunny lines
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Neck lines
  • A square-shaped, heavy jaw

A personal approach: That Face in Chicago

Dr. Sulyman-Scott is one of the few fellowship-trained female African American facial plastic surgeons in the USA. She has a background as an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat surgeon) and a nurse, and puts your care, comfort, and surgical outcomes above all else. Before any BOTOX injections, she will listen closely to you to ensure she fully understands your personal aesthetic goals. She offers an array of surgical and non-surgical treatments, including custom BOTOX injections, performed with precision and meticulous care.

With advanced injection techniques, you can look years younger, but in the most natural way. Imagine your face looking smooth and youthful, without forehead creases, frown lines, and crow’s feet—the difference is subtle, yet dramatic. With regular BOTOX treatments, you'll notice those etched-in lines fading, and many younger patients even take the proactive step to have BOTOX treatments that keep their facial skin smooth and unlined for years into the future.

Your Treatment Experience, Start to Finish.

Once you and Dr. Sulyman-Scott have met and discussed your wishes, she will cleanse the treatment area. A topical anesthetic is usually not necessary but will be available for patients who need it. Then she will carefully inject the BOTOX into specific facial muscles to achieve your aesthetic goal. As a facial plastic surgeon, she has deep knowledge of the facial muscles and performs BOTOX injections with precision. The number of injections you will need will vary according to your cosmetic goals. Forehead lines can require 10 to 30 units while crow’s feet may require 5 to 15 units, and jawline recontouring may take 40 to 60 units. Most BOTOX treatments take only about 15 minutes, after which you are free to return to your normal activities.

After your BOTOX injections – what to expect?

You may see little bumps that look like mosquito bites at the injection sites, which will disappear in a few minutes. Bruising is unlikely but can occur with any injection. To decrease the risk of bruising, ice may be placed on the injection site. It's recommended to avoid exercise for 12 to 24 hours after your treatment.

It will take from three to four days for the smoothing effect of BOTOX to begin to appear, with the optimal results visible in about two weeks. If you are planning to attend a special event, meeting, reunion, schedule your appointment about two weeks before the event. To maintain your refreshed look, you will need BOTOX injections about every three to four months.

Jaw Contouring with BOTOX

You may feel that your jawline has begun to look square over time, or you may have inherited a heavier jaw structure. BOTOX jaw contouring works by limiting the muscle motions of the masseter muscles, reducing bulk and creating a more oval and feminine shape. This is a customized treatment, requiring several injection sessions.
