Enhance the Appearance of Your Entire Face with Chin Augmentation

Are you considering altering the shape or size of your chin? A small, uneven, or receding chin could impact the harmonious balance of your facial features. For both men and women, a well-defined chin and sculpted jawline are fundamental features of facial attraction and have recently gained significant attention in our society. Being one of the quick and low-risk plastic surgeries, chin augmentation can minimize the appearance of a “double chin," improve the facial profile, create a more defined jawline, make your chin and jawline more symmetrical, and create a more refined, balanced face.

What Should I Know Before My Chin Augmentation Procedure?

Before the day of your surgery, Dr. Sulyman-Scott will go over your aesthetic goals with you and develop a custom surgical plan to achieve your vision. The details will depend upon whether you are combining your chin augmentation with any other procedure, as well as which type of custom-fitted chin augmentation implant will be used.

Is the Surgery Long or Painful?

Before your procedure, either local or general anesthesia will be administered, and you will not feel any pain. Once the anesthesia has taken full effect, Dr. Sulyman-Scott will make an incision either inside your mouth or beneath your chin.

She will insert a specialized chin implant through this incision and position it around the existing chin bone. Your incision is closed with sutures. The surgery typically takes one to two hours and is performed on an outpatient basis.

Recovery Time – What to Expect

After your chin augmentation surgery, it is normal to experience some swelling and bruising. Discomfort is usually mild and can easily be managed with prescription pain medication or over-the-counter medications. For the first week or two after surgery, you will need to sleep on your back with your head elevated. This will help minimize any swelling and protect the incisions as they heal. Dr. Sulyman-Scott may also advise a liquid diet or soft foods for the first few days. Strenuous activity should be avoided for two weeks, but you should be able to return to work or other activities in about one week or less.

When Will I Enjoy the Full Results?

You should be able to see improvements immediately, which will continue to improve as the swelling and bruising subside. External incisions under the chin usually heal well with imperceptible scars. About a month after surgery, your results will look close to final. Your chin augmentation surgery can be life-changing—imagine never needing to worrying about a weak, small, or sloping chin structure again! The outcome of this procedure brings balance and harmony to your profile in the most attractive way—subtle but significant.
